For the past 10 years, Downtown Kingsport Association has worked to bring the Arts to Downtown. The establishment of the Main Art Center, a non-profit, multi-artist gallery located directly above the DKA office, was one of the first steps toward this goal. In 2000, we hosted our first “Evening with the Arts,” a black-tie event showcasing the work of local artists, and have continued to host the event annually since then. At DKA we have worked tirelessly over the past several years to incorporate not only fine art, but also sculpture, music, and other artistic genres into Downtown Kingsport. The results of this artistic drive can be seen in the many sculptures erected downtown, our annual summer concert series, and various other developments throughout downtown. Look for more to come from DKA and Kingsport’s artist community as this artistic revival continues.
